Past Metal Locking Projects

When we say we can repair cast iron anywhere in the world we mean ANYWHERE. Here is MLS restoring many feet of cracking in the cast iron Cape Pembroke Lighthouse on the Falkland Islands close to to the tip of Antarctica. This lighthouse is from 1855 and we're proud to have been part of the restoration process.

Fixing large industrial castings is one of our most common repairs. Here is a large Bliss press that had cracked cast iron supports that were badly cracked. MLS was able to lock and lace, without any heat, and restore full strength back to the casting for many more years of operation.

Foundries, and industrial customers, come to MLS when they have casting flaws they need corrected. Metal Locking Service is capable of fixing cast iron casting flaws through locking and lacing repairs (metal locking) without using any heat that would distort or embrittle the casting.

When a critical compressor was not drained before being shut down in the middle of a blizzard, the damage was catastrophic, and a replacement compressor was more than a 2-year lead time. Our customer needed a repair that would hold pressure, and get their compressor/plant back up and running. MLS repaired multiple parts of this compressor. We hydro-tested the repair and the customer was back and running.

Our customer called us up because they had a large set of cast iron gears where the spokes were experiencing heavy cracking. MLS was able to fix all the cracks and restore the casting to more than full strength of the original casting.

When our customer cracked their 10 ton Rolling Mill Frame all the way through one side and through the bore, there was only one call to make, Metal Locking Service. We installed many large master locks, standard locks, and lacings to get their Mill Frame back up and to more than 100% of the original OEM strength.

There's metal locking for cast iron repairs, and then sometimes there's advanced metal locking for difficult repairs. Our customer had freeze damage that blew out the entire side of a water cooled compressor stage. We needed to mill out a very large section of the body, install new plate cast iron, and be able to hold against the internal water pressure. Not a problem for Metal Locking Service! We repaired the body, performed a hydro-test, and they were back up and running.
